Introduction - Healthy Eating in Pregnancy

Working through Steps One-to-Five (below) will help you put together a plan for healthy eating and healthy weight gain that is tailored to you and your pregnancy.  

Step One will help you to understand why healthy weight gain in pregnancy is important. Step Two will help you work out how much weight it is recommended you gain in your pregnancy, and Steps Three and Four will help you to work out a plan for healthy weight gain. Step Five will help you to plan weight loss after your pregnancy.

It is helpful to start a diary of your progress that you can update throughout your pregnancy. It is very easy to forget how much you weigh, or how you are feeling from week-to-week, particularly when you are pregnant and busy! There is a weight gain tracker you can download in Step Two. If you find that you are losing or gaining weight faster than you expect, it is important that you talk to your midwife or doctor.
